(TORONTO March 25, 2010) – Toronto based film production company Associated Producers has won the Wilbur Award for Television Documentary from The Religion Communicators Council in Chicago for the documentary special Science of the Soul.

The Wilbur Award will be handed out at a gala award presentation on April 9th, during the 2010 Religious Communicators Congress in Chicago Illinois.

From robotics to near death experiences, from attempts to achieve altered states of consciousness in the jungles of Peru to an exploration of infant state of mind, Science of the Soul explores the cutting-edge of consciousness related science to determine whether we are about to experience a new step in human evolution or the death of the human soul.

Shot on location in Peru, Switzerland, England, Japan and Canada, Science of the Soul was one of the highest rated factual programs to air on Vision TV in 2009, and the highest rated factual program on Vision TV the week of November 23, 2009.

Says Jacobovici: “All around us changes are taking place before we have time to assess them; nanotechnology, cyborg technology, AI. Some of the science is based on the assumption that humans don’t have souls – but some of the science points in the opposite direction. We wanted to put the discussion on the agenda because if we just assume a soulless universe – we may end up with one”.

Science of the Soul was written and directed by Simcha Jacobovici, produced by Ric Esther Bienstock, and executive produced by Simcha Jacobovici
